Chinese auto maker Nio has appointed DHL as its logistics partner for aftermarket services for its electric vehicles in Europe.
Under the agreement, DHL will manage storage, distribution and customs clearance of parts and accessories for Nio vehicles across northwestern Europe. Operations will be based at DHL’s Automotive Campus in Holtum in the Netherlands and will support both Nio-branded vehicles and the company’s Firefly compact EV range.
DHL said it will use capabilities from its Supply Chain, Global Forwarding and Freight divisions to handle the work. The Holtum site is located near major European transportation corridors and is intended to support fast delivery times and scalable logistics solutions.
Thijs Meijling, head of Nio Europe business, said, “Europe is at the heart of Nio’s journey. To deliver on our promise of a truly user-centric experience, we rely on strong partnerships with Europe’s best. With DHL, we gain a global logistics player whose dense network enables us to react quickly and flexibly to our users’ needs in aftersales services – from warehousing to distribution.”
Franz Riedlberger, director of procurement at NIO, said the partnership supports the company’s expansion in Europe: “Together with DHL, we have established a logistics setup that supports efficiency, scalability and reliability – all essential as we continue to grow our presence in Europe and enhance the experience for our users.”
Rik van den Broeck, business unit director – south east at DHL Supply Chain, said the Automotive Campus in Holtum and the company’s automotive logistics capabilities would support NIO’s operations with “efficient and future-ready logistics.”
Fathi Tlatli, global automobility sector president at DHL Customer Solutions & Innovation, said the agreement reflects growth in the electric mobility sector and demand for specialized EV supply chain services.
The partnership will support Nio’s aftermarket operations in Europe, including distribution of spare parts and accessories to customers and service locations across the region.
